Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) – Giving Back to Others Never Tasted So Good!

After a long day, many of us are tired and the last thing we want to do is make a nutritional meal but imagine if your long day included doctor’s visits, medical treatments, travel, or a hospital stay - in addition to the strain of limited resources to food, time or money.

As a sponsor of The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC), Meal Prep Program and as a member of the CAI Outreach Committee we want to share our latest event! One responsibility of the CAI Outreach Committee is to look for sponsors, volunteers and dates when we can participate in the meal program. For approximately 3 hours you have the privilege of preparing meals with the highly organized, experienced and gracious RMHC kitchen team.

The recent June dinner was sponsored the Amento Group & Washington Elevator. Both companies came together one afternoon and prepared 150 dinners for families to enjoy that evening. It takes up to 9 volunteers to prep, cook, and box the meals. Even my son, Carson, along with 3 of his baseball friends were surprised at how easily they made beautiful, home-made meals from scratch and all it took was showing up. And everyone enjoyed rubbing elbows with our Chief Problem Solver, Sean!

During a meal-prep break, you are given a guided tour of the House, to see first-hand how important the charity is and how grateful the families are. In 2023, the Seattle House served 568 families and 36,202 nights of housing with an average stay of 49 days (about 1 ½ months).

The meal program is a gift of time & comfort for the families who stay at the House.

There’s more! Did you know that the in-restaurant fundraising at McDonald’s is budgeted to be 11% of the operating budget in 2024? McDonald’s is a Founding and Forever Partner for RMHC worldwide. If you round up with your order, you contribute to their goal:

  • $.02/lb of potatoes used for French Fries

  • $.01 for every Happy Meal sold

  • $.10 from each Shamrock Shake

  • All restaurant donation box contributions - when you place your order, tell them you want to round up!

However, her shared values & trust with the Founder, Jason, whom she worked with for nearly 10 years in the trade, plus her authentic desire to bring a breath of fresh air into the industry, compelled her to join Washington Elevator as a Partner in July of 2022. Sarah strives to provide a positive customer experience in order to build a long-term partnership.

When she isn't leading the team, she loves spending time with her two amazing teenagers, crabbing on Whidbey Island, but on a good night, her favorite activity is beating her husband in a game of cribbage!
