Modernization Journey - Week 4

Week four is in the books. If you missed our previous weeks, you can catch them here:

Let’s see what Jon and Zach were up to this week...

This week they completed all hoistway and pit wiring. This includes hall stations (push buttons) and interlocks on all floors. The pit includes the emergency stop switch. As is typical with most modernizations, we were able to reuse the existing raceways for wiring.

We also started on the emergency communication system. You can read more about that here.

I had an opportunity to visit Jon and Zach at the jobsite this week. In this blog, we didn’t include information about Work by Others or Related Building Work. A majority of this work was completed prior to Washington Elevator mobilizing. Here’s the mini-split that was installed. For more info at Related Building Work, you can view that here.

Mini split to control machine room temperature.

Next week, Jon and Zach will move on to wiring the car and controller. Be sure to check back.

Sean McMannis

There is nothing that Sean enjoys more than helping a customer solve an elevator issue. Since 2008, he has witnessed a deterioration in the services provided throughout the industry. Sean prides himself on being responsive and honest. He takes the time to educate elevator owners and help them understand their options. After spending time at various elevator companies, Sean joined Washington Elevator because he believes building owners and managers crave a company focused on people, not profits.

With more than 15 years of elevator experience, Sean’s goal is to proactively address all elevator issues so that you can focus on your business.

When Sean isn’t helping customers, you can find him playing on the soccer field, cheering on the Sounders and enjoying activities with his wife and their two young kids.
